It represents an instant independent of timezone; Metyris shows UTC and your browser-local time.

No sign-up is required. The calculation or transformation happens in this browser tab and the result is available immediately.

Practical guidance

Unix time records an instant as the number of seconds or milliseconds since 1 January 1970 at 00:00:00 UTC. The same timestamp can be displayed in UTC and in your device's local timezone.

Seconds and milliseconds

A current Unix timestamp usually has 10 digits when measured in seconds and 13 digits when measured in milliseconds. Choose the matching unit before converting so the date is interpreted correctly.

Convert in either direction

Use timestamp to date to read an epoch value as UTC and local time. Use date to Unix to turn a local date and time into seconds or milliseconds for logs, APIs and databases.
