How to use Loan Calculator

  1. Enter the amount, annual rate and tenure.
  2. Choose years or months.
  3. Review totals and expand the schedule when needed.

How is the payment calculated?

The calculator uses the standard fixed-rate amortizing-loan formula with equal monthly payments.

No sign-up is required. The calculation or transformation happens in this browser tab and the result is available immediately.

Practical guidance

This calculator models a conventional fixed-rate amortizing loan with equal monthly payments. It is useful for comparing mathematical scenarios, not predicting a lender’s final offer.

Formula and assumptions

The annual rate is divided by 12 to obtain a monthly rate. The payment is the amount that reduces the balance to zero across the selected number of months; at 0% interest, principal is divided evenly.

The model assumes the rate and payment schedule stay constant, payments arrive monthly, and no extra payments, missed payments or rate changes occur. Tenure is limited to 1,200 months.

What the estimate excludes

Taxes, origination and service fees, insurance, penalties, closing costs and lender-specific rounding or day-count rules are excluded. An advertised APR can also include costs that a simple interest-rate input does not capture.

Currency symbols are deliberately omitted because the same formula works with any consistent currency.

Reading the schedule

Early payments normally contain more interest because the outstanding balance is larger. The final row adjusts for accumulated numerical rounding. Confirm important figures with the lender’s disclosure documents.
