Scanned PDF to Word

Extract editable text from a clear English scanned PDF and download a Word document.

Processed locally in your browser — your file is not uploaded.
How is this private?

Processing happens in this browser tab, so files are not uploaded to Metyris for processing. Reloading or closing the page clears working data, though your browser may retain temporary files or downloads. Very large files can exceed available browser memory.

Important limitations

English only · unlocked PDFs · up to 3 pages / 20 MB. This tool extracts editable text and page breaks; it does not reproduce tables, forms, columns or visual layouts.

OCR can misread characters. Review every result against the original before use, especially for legal, financial, medical, government or other high-stakes documents. The generated Word file is an editable working copy, not a certified record or replacement for the source PDF.

How to use Scanned PDF to Word

  1. Choose an unlocked scanned PDF up to 20 MB with up to three pages.
  2. OCR runs locally in your browser and shows the extracted text for review.
  3. Download the editable text as a Word document.

Will the Word document preserve the original layout?

This first version keeps editable text and page breaks, rather than trying to recreate complex page layouts. Clear, typed single-column scans work best; review names, numbers, tables and forms before using the result.

No sign-up is required. The calculation or transformation happens in this browser tab and the result is available immediately.

Good to know

Can I convert a scanned PDF into an editable Word document?+

Yes. This tool reads the text in a scanned PDF with OCR and creates a DOCX file. The result is editable in Word, but it should be checked before relying on names, dates or numbers.

Will it preserve the original formatting?+

The first version preserves text and page breaks. It does not recreate complex tables, forms, columns or design layouts; these need cleanup in Word.

Which scans work best?+

Clear, upright English scans with typed, single-column text work best. Low-resolution photos, handwriting, skewed pages and dense tables can produce errors.

Is my scanned PDF uploaded?+

No. The PDF is rendered and read inside your browser tab. The OCR engine and file are not sent to a Metyris processing server.

Can I use the Word file as an official or certified record?+

No. OCR output is an editable working copy, not a certified conversion or replacement for the original PDF. Check every result against the original before using it for legal, financial, medical, government or other high-stakes purposes.
